As of August 2014 I’ve started writing a bi-weekly column for the Philly Soccer Page, the absolute best site covering the Philadelphia Union and other soccer in the greater Philadelphia region. I’ve been a Union die-hard since their first game at the Linc, which I went to with my dad and where we enjoyed watching Sebastien Le Toux put three goals past DC United. I also took Principles of Economics with Sunil Gulati — the President of US Soccer, when not a Columbia lecturer — and I suppose that qualifies me as an “insider.” (It does not.)
The link to my full column archive on PSP is here, but I’m also including the direct links on this page.
August 19: The power of the U.S. Open Cup.
August 5: Comparing this summer’s transfers to last season’s, mostly wondering what happened to “Gilberto.”
June 11: The firing of manager John Hackworth — why did it happen, and who should replace him?
August 5, 2013: Following Clint Dempsey’s shock move to Seattle Sounders, some thoughts on the shifting landscape of American soccer.
